When she lost her ability to move from her chair around the start of January it became clear that significant changes would be needed to provide continuing homecare. These could only take place after awaiting a Social Services related Occupational Therapy Assessment, required by all care providers because of their insurance needs. At the same time, it became clear that all the care home places with mobility capability in Southport were unavailable because of constraints imposed by the local Public Health office. This posed an almost insoluble problem of arranging for immediate day to day care. With the proactive support of the manager, Birkdale Tower Lodge came to the rescue and with minimum delay organised for my friend to be admitted for rehabilitation care. The 4-week stay was a great success with excellent care provided by friendly competent staff.
